The winner of nine Compasso d'Oro awards, Achille Castiglioni was born in Milan in 1918 and graduated with a degree in architecture in 1944. After school, he began researching shapes, techniques and new materials, aimed at developing an integral design process. In 1969, he was authorized by the Ministry of Education to teach "Artistic Design for Industry" and was a professor at Turin'́s Faculty of Architecture until 1980 and then professor of "Industrial Design " in Milan until 1993. He designed his height-adjustable Parentesi Lamp with Pio Manzu' in 1971. Designed to provide direct lighting, the bulb moves vertically up and down the floor-to-ceiling cable to suit the task at hand. Castiglioni's work is included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including MoMA in New York (they have 14 pieces), Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. Bulb: 120V 1 x 120W Medium Flood BR40.

This height-adjustable lamp moves vertically up and down a 13-foot floor-to-ceiling cable (may be cut to size) to suit the task at hand.

Italian designers Tobia and Afra Scarpa started their careers working with glass in Murano in 1958. As their reputation for innovative design grew, they received commissions for products from Knoll®, Cassina and other notable manufacturers, as well as architecture and interior design projects for companies like Benetton. In 1960, they began working with Achille Castiglioni as lighting designers for Flos, and it was during that time that they designed their Foglio Wall Lamp (1966). This sleek steel composition wraps around the bulbs like a folio of paper, resulting in a combination of direct and indirect lighting from a light source that's nicely concealed. Tobia and Afra Scarpa have won many awards including the Compasso d'Oro, and their work is included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide. Bulbs (2): 100W/120V/A19 Medium.

The quality of light, and the large spread it provides, is surprising for an LED lamp, which is why we're excited to bring Kelvin into our assortment. This lamp is designed with a double pantograph arm and a 359-degree swiveling head, which includes LEDs and a diffuser. The entire structure from the slender, square head to the base is made of square tube in extruded aluminum alloy. Flos Taraxacum S2

Inspired by George Nelson's experiments with metal frame lamp structures, the Castiglioni brothers designed their Taraxacum S2 (1960). To create the luminous structure, the brothers created a shape out of powder-coated steel that was sprayed with a "cocoon" of plastic polymers and protected with a clear finish. The coating acts as a diffuser, resulting in a lamp that delivers a warm, soft glow. Achille Castiglioni often referred to what he called the "principal design component," which could mean a new technology or even a new behavior. The next step was to build upon the component, and this was an area where the Castiglioni brothers truly excelled. Through rigorous examination of materials and production techniques, they created work like the Taraxacum S2. The word Taraxacum is the Latin name for the common dandelion. Twenty-eight years later, Achille used the name again with the introduction of his Taraxacum '88. Bulb included: One halogen 100W/120V/T10. Made in Italy by Flos.
